The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Committee on Earth Resources is hosting convening a meeting on May 4th, beginning at 9:00am EST, entitled Next Generation Oil and Gas Research: Science and Technology to Drive Innovation. The program will be split into two panels. The first panel, in the morning, will be a discussion of the environmental and regulatory framework while the second will focus on technology and research challenges and opportunities. Several keynote speakers and the experts on each panel will help examine current approaches to extractive energy processes – focusing mainly on oil and natural gas but including discussion of geothermal energy – as well as the opportunities to advance next generation research and technology. The conversation will include challenges in the subsurface and on the surface that integrate technical, environmental, economic, and regulatory factors. The meeting is open to the public and can be attended either in person or remotely. IMA-NA will be participating and we encourage our members to participate as well.
Please contact Eric Edkin with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine if you would like toto participate in person or via WebEx. The agenda is attached for your reference.
