During the Second Quarter, MineFit will concentrate on the various research and implementation of physical activity and nutrition on focus, attention, mood, productivity, morale, and physical state of being.
To kick off this quarter, we will turn our focus and attention to Omega Fatty Acids. New research shows that Omega-3 Fatty Acids are more effective against symptoms of depression and negativity than traditional medications. In a study by the Archives of General Psychiatry, published in 2003, researchers gave patients suffering from various levels of depression a dose of Omega-3 fatty acids. After three months, over two-thirds of the group reported a 50% decrease in their symptoms - particularly sadness and pessimism, and the inability to work productively. This represents one of the largest associations of a nutrient with decreasing depression and mental illness.
