Last night in one of their final acts of the year, the Senate overwhelmingly passed a set of about 50 tax benefits that had expired on December 31, 2013. The vast majority of these tax benefits were business related. Among the credits is one for employers who cover costs for employee training in mine rescue. The legislation passed by a vote of 76-16. This bill will be retroactive to January 1, 2014 and will expire again in 2 weeks at the end of 2014 (December 31, 2014), which means that Congress failed to give businesses any sort of certainty headed into 2015 and the issue will have to be addressed once again. A full list of the credits is attached.
