Donald Blankenship Indicted on Charges Related to Mine Blast at Upper Big Branch Mine in 2010

Donald Blankenship, the former CEO of Massey Energy, has been indicted on four criminal charges related to the fatal explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine in 2010 that took the lives of 29 miners.  Mr. Blankenship will be charged with conspiracy to violate mandatory federal mine safety and health standards, conspiracy to impede federal mine safety officials, making false statements to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and securities fraud.  The four counts are punishable by up to 31 years in prison.
